Meet our Beneficiaries: MBA Opens Doors Foundation
This week we’d like to continue the introductions to our beneficiaries by telling you about the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Opens Doors Foundation.
The MBA Opens Doors Foundation was created in 2011 by board members Dan Arrigoni and David H. Stevens, CMB and president of the Mortgage Bankers Association. Seeking a way to give back to communities, the MBA kick-started the Foundation with an initial donation of $50,000, and continues to cover all administrative expenses for the Foundation, allowing every dollar donated to go directly to the families served by its Home Grant Program. The grants provides mortgage and rental payment assistance to families with critically ill or injured children, allowing families to be by a child’s side during treatment.
That mission resonates deeply with CMG as it relates directly to the real estate finance industry in which it operates. “The mortgage and rental assistance grants have become an important part of a family’s support structure and provides relief to parents who take unpaid leave in order to spend precious time with a child during treatment,” said Deborah E. Dubois, President of the Opens Doors Foundation. Parents are able to be present for and support their children and their families in their most dire time of need without worrying about jeopardizing the security of their homes.
Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has provided over $2.5 million in housing assistance to over 2,000 families from more than 40 states. It is supported by 1,500+ individual and corporate donors, and we here at CMG are immensely proud to count ourselves among that group. The CMG Foundation has supported the Opens Doors Foundation since our inception, and we are profoundly honored to do so yet again at our 8th Annual Wine Tasting and Charity Auction on Monday, July 16th 2018 at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco—located right in Union Square. This year’s vintage circus-themed “Under the Big Top” night promises a memorable evening of fun and charitable giving, where you will have the opportunity directly support the Opens Doors Foundation.
